Neptune Beach, FL (February 2, 2019) - One person is suffering from life-threatening injuries following a two-car crash in Neptune Beach on Friday, February 1st.
The crash occurred when a Chevy Monte Carlo was traveling eastbound on Atlantic Boulevard at a high rate of speed. The Monte Carlo collided with a Nissan SUV. Neptune Beach police officers responded to the scene and discovered three people who were hurt in the crash. At least one person sustained life-threatening injuries. All three victims were rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
The Florida Highway Patrol has taken over the investigation of the crash. There is no word on the current condition of the victims or their identity. No information was released on whether charges will be filed in the collision.
Approximately 250,000 injury accidents will happen on Florida's streets and highways this year. Of this number, almost all of the accidents will involve negligence of at least one person. Speeding is a form of negligence that is a cause of many car accidents. Drivers who fail to obey speed limits create a risk of injury for themselves and those sharing the roadway with them. It appears as though speeding was the primary cause of this car accident in Neptune Beach.
