Ocala, FL (July 2, 2021) - Police responded to the scene of a fatal car accident in Ocala on Thursday evening. The crash took place along State Road 200.
According to reports, at least two cars were involved in the crash which happened in the eastbound lanes of the highway. A 67-year-old man from Ocala was critically hurt while a woman in the same vehicle was killed. The driver of the second vehicle, 51-year-old Daniel Ontiveros-Lopez, of Citra, was arrested by police in connection with the crash. Ontiveros-Lopez was charged with two counts of driving without a valid driver's license causing death or serious bodily injuries. Motorists were advised to use caution and to avoid the scene if possible.
An investigation is underway at this time. No further details have been released.
Sadly, there are more than 3,000 fatalities reported annually in Florida car accidents. Many of these fatal accidents stem from negligent driving behavior and result in the loss of innocent lives. There is nothing more devastating than the sudden loss of a friend or loved one in a crash, especially if your relative is killed in a crash that was not their fault.

A 56-year-old man from Palm Coast was killed when his motorcycle collided with a truck on Sunday, August 25th. The crash took place on Ponce de Leon Boulevard near Belle Terre Parkway. Police arrived on the scene around 8:45 pm. Officers say that Stewart was traveling northbound on Belle Terre when a 2015 Dodge Ram pickup truck made a left turn onto Ponce de Leon. The driver of the Ram has been identified as 71-year-old Joseph Michael Scarpone. As the truck made its turn, the motorcycle slammed into the right rear of the vehicle before ending up in the median following impact. Stewart died at the scene of the crash while a 56-year-old female passenger was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. Read more
