Ocala, FL (March 14, 2019) - Two people are dead and three others suffered critical injuries in a crash that occurred along County Road 484 on Wednesday, March 14th.
Troopers say that a 2006 Cadillac SUV, driven by Jason Scott, was traveling eastbound on CR-484. Scott rear-ended a 2013 Lexus SUV driven by 67-year-old Ordanel Espinal. Espinal lost control of his vehicle following impact and veered into the westbound lanes, where the Lexus collided head-on with a 2015 Nissan Sentra driven by Stephanie Arias, 29.
Both Arias and Renia Suarez-De Yepez, who was a passenger in Espinal's vehicle, were killed in the crash. The occupants of the Lexus were traveling home from church when the crash occurred. Troopers said that speed appeared to be a factor in the crash. There is no word on any charges at this time.
Our deepest sympathies are extended to the families of the two women who lost their lives in this tragic Ocala crash. Rear-end collisions have the potential to cause death and serious injuries in certain circumstances, especially if they occur at high speeds as we see in this crash. Although we will have to await further word, it appears as though Jason Scott's negligence caused this crash to occur.
