Ocoee, FL (January 24, 2019) - A total of five people, including two children, were injured when four cars collided along Colonial Road on Thursday, January 24th. The Orange County Rescue responded to the crash scene on Colonial near Good Homes Road.
After an investigation, authorities determined that 50-year-old Chawanda Canady was traveling eastbound on Colonial when she attempted to make a lane change. As she changed lanes, Canady collided with both a van and an SUV. She then crossed over into the center lane and struck a pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction. Canady was charged with driving on a suspended license. She suffered serious injuries in the crash. Two other adults and five children sustained non-life-threatening injuries. None of the injured victims have been identified.
The crash is still under investigation.
While this crash remains under investigation, it appears as though at least one innocent person was hurt in the accident. Each year in Florida, over 400,000 car accidents are reported. In the case of a car accident with injuries, an innocent victim may be a passenger, a pedestrian, a bicyclist or another driver. When a motorist or pedestrian is hurt by the negligence of another, the victim or victims have a legal right to recover for damages suffered in the crash.
Florida car accident law provides that a person who is hurt in a crash that was not their fault may recover for their pain and suffering, lost wages and medical bills. In cases of serious injury, it is important to have an experienced lawyer assisting you with your case.
