The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says that an officer-involved accident took place on Jacksonville’s Southside around Baymeadows Road. The accident happened around 7:50 a.m. when an off-duty officer slammed into the back of another vehicle. That vehicle then crashed into two other vehicles that were stopped in turn lanes.
One person in the initial vehicle that was struck was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The officer on-scene was not injured but did not know why the accident occurred. Homicide Detectives were called to the scene to investigate the accident.
