Orange City, FL – Deltona Woman Critically Injured, Dragged by Vehicle

Orange City, FL (June 26, 2018) – A woman was left in critical condition after she was struck by an SUV and dragged in Orange City. The 52-year-old Deltona woman was left with critical injuries after the accident on Monday.
Police said that, once she was struck by the SUV, she was dragged for several feet. The Florida Highway Patrol investigated.
73-year-old Angel Ruiz also struck multiple vehicles and shopping carts in front of the Bravo Supermarket near Enterprise Road when he hit the woman. The man was putting his groceries away when he accidentally put his SUV in reverse and struck an unoccupied parked car. He then put the vehicle in drive and struck four vehicles that were parked at the store. He hit the woman and dragged her close to 20 feet with the vehicle.
The woman’s identity has not yet been released. She was airlifted to Halifax Health Medical Center with critical injuries and is still being treated. Nobody else received injuries in the accident.
Close to 10,000 pedestrians were injured in accidents that took place last year. Many of these accidents happen due to distracted driving, driving under the influence, excessive speed, and more.
