Orange County, FL (June 24, 2018) – An Orange County motorcyclist lost his life in a crash that happened yesterday afternoon around 4:15 p.m. The incident took place on Oak Ridge Road and Texas Avenue.
Troopers who arrived at the scene found that a Chevrolet Suburban was heading east on Oak Ridge Road when the accident occurred. A Yamaha motorcycle was heading west on the roadway.
The driver of the Chevy attempted to make a left turn to travel onto Texas Avenue but turned directly into the path of the motorcycle rider. The front of the motorcycle then struck the right side of the Suburban.
The operator of the motorcycle was ejected from his bike and was taken to a local hospital. However, while there, he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Suburban, however, did not receive injuries.
At this time, charges are pending against the driver of the vehicle. The crash is still being investigated by police at this time.
Motorcycle riders are the most likely type of motor vehicle to be involved in a deadly crash. In 2015 in Florida, about 5,000 people died in motorcycle crashes.
