Orange County, FL (August 16, 2018) – In Orange County, an overturned semi-truck spilled sand all over State Road 429 on Wednesday morning. The incident was so severe that it caused northbound lanes to close for early morning commuters making their way to work.
The accident took place around 5:45 a.m. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that 43-year-old Serrano Menendez of Minneola was headed northbound in a construction zone when she drove into a drop-off alongside the roadway. She tried to avoid the drop and lost control of the vehicle.
The side of the roadway had apparently been scooped out in a construction project at the time. When she tried to steer back into the roadway, the truck overturned, which is when it spilled sand all over the northbound lane of the highway.
Menendez was taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. The crash is still being investigated at this time.
