Orange County, FL (September 27, 2018) – A 21-year-old Orange County Deputy was reported to have been involved in a collision that occurred late Tuesday night, September 25, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash transpired as Deputy Robert Gautam, of Orlando, was responding to a call for backup around 11:30 p.m.
As per the statements made by the FHP, Gautam had his lights and siren activated as he drove north on John Young Parkway and proceeded to enter the intersection at Presidents Drive. Troopers stated that Gautam had the red light as he crossed the intersection and subsequently struck another vehicle.
A 2015 Buick that was being operated by a 47-year-old man from Kissimmee was struck by the deputy as the other driver had the green light. The front-end of Gautum’s cruiser collided with the left side of the Buick.
Both Gautam and the other driver were immediately transported to Hunter’s Creek ER along with one male passenger in the cruiser. All three victims sustained injuries that were classified as minor during the accident. No further details have been made available at this time. A thorough investigation into the crash is ongoing.
