Pedestrian crashes claim, on average, two lives per day in Florida. Last year, there were over 10,000 reported pedestrian crashes. A pedestrian is especially vulnerable when walking on busy roadways at nighttime hours as in this accident. A pedestrian walking at night should take certain safety precautions, including walking in only well-lighted areas, carrying a flashlight or other illuminating device and walking far enough off the roadway to avoid being struck by a vehicle. At this time, there is not enough information available to determine whether the driver or pedestrian might be at fault for this pedestrian's death. Further police investigation will provide additional answers.
