Orlando, FL (June 24, 2019) - A senior at the University of Central Florida is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries following a hit-and-run incident near campus. The incident occurred on Saturday, June 22nd.
The female was walking near Napiers Circle and Pasteur Drive Saturday morning when she was struck by a car driven by 25-year-old Yousuf Hasan. Hasan, who was driving a black Acura, fled the scene after the collision. Florida Highway Patrol troopers later found Hasan's car with heavy damage to the front of the vehicle and the windshield, consistent with striking the woman. The victim was taken to the hospital. According to her father, she is not doing well and is now in a coma. Doctors are currently working to save her life.
Police are still investigating. However, a blood-alcohol test revealed that Hasan may have been impaired at the time of the crash. He has been charged with driving while under the influence resulting in serious bodily harm and leaving the scene of an accident.
