Orlando, FL (January 6, 2020) - The victim of a fatal traffic incident in Orlando has been identified. The crash originally took place on Friday, January 3rd along Interstate 4.
Police say that 38-year-old Michelle Batista, of Jacksonville, was involved in a crash with another vehicle on Friday morning near West Central Boulevard. Both cars pulled over to the shoulder and Batista exited her vehicle. As she was standing outside the vehicle, one of the cars involved in the crash was struck by a third car. The impact of the collision pushed Batista's car into her, forcing her over the concrete and below onto North Garland Avenue. Batista was transported to a nearby hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the third vehicle has not been identified and police have not said whether any charges will be filed.
Fatal car accidents take place in Florida about every three hours. Deadly crashes can take place at any time and no one is ever truly safe from the dangers of the roadway. Negligent drivers are all around us and any instance of bad driving behavior can turn deadly on a moment's notice. Victims' families may have the option of pursuing a wrongful death claim if their loved one is killed in a Florida car accident.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family of Michelle Batista at this time.
