Osceola County, FL (April 18, 2019) - A motorcyclist died in a hit-and-run crash that took place in Celebration on Tuesday, April 16th. The collision occurred in the eastbound lanes of Highway 192 around 2:00 pm.
Florida Highway Patrol reports that 70-year-old Sadaqat Jaweed was driving his 2017 Mercedes eastbound when he tried to make a left turn onto Diplomat Circle. While he was turning, Jaweed drove into the path of a 2018 Honda motorcycle. The Mercedes and the motorcycle collided with one another. The motorcyclist, 32-year-old Luis Del Valle Rosado was thrown from his bike. Jaweed stopped momentarily before leaving the crash scene.
Rosado was later pronounced dead. Jaweed was located by troopers and charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident. The crash is still under investigation at this time.
There are about 100,000 hit-and-run crashes reported in Florida annually. Unfortunately, many hit-and-run accidents will involve death or serious bodily injury to those affected. Many drivers choose to flee the scene of a crash fully aware of the damage and destruction that they have caused. Unfortunately, these drivers fail to heed their legal and moral responsibility to remain on the scene of a crash.
