Osteen, FL (August 30, 2018) - A head-on crash Thursday morning on State Road 415 left one person dead.
According to reports, the accident occurred around 7:30 am, involving a 2005 Chevrolet pickup and a 2007 Chevrolet SUV. The driver of the pickup, 46 year old Ramon Hearn was traveling north on S.R. 415 when he suddenly drifted into the southbound lane of travel. Hearn's vehicle struck the 2007 Chevy SUV driven by 42 year old Kimberley Ayala. Ayala attempted to swerve right and miss Hearn's vehicle but was unsuccessful in avoiding a collision.
Sadly, Ayala died at the scene of the crash. Hearn was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
The crash is under investigation with charges pending. Police have not provided any further information.
Our deepest condolences go out to the family of Kimberley Ayala in this tragic crash. A fatal accident takes place approximately every three hours in Florida. Many fatal crashes are head-on collisions such as the one here. When a head-on collision occurs, a full investigation must be done to determine the cause of the crash. Some common causes include, distraction, impairment and speeding. It is yet to be determined why Ramon Hearn traveled left of center in this crash.
The family of Kimberley Ayala will have the right to bring a wrongful death claim against Ramon Hearn due to Hearn's negligence in this crash. Wrongful death claims in Florida must be filed within two years following the date of death.
