Pace, FL (July 6, 2018) – Police conducted an hours-long search looking for a pickup truck that was responsible for a serious hit-and-run accident. The accident happened on Thursday in Pace and caused serious injuries to a pedestrian.
A silver Dodge pickup truck was heading west at the time of the incident on US Highway 90 around 1 p.m. It was just past East Spencer Field Road when it suddenly veered off the right shoulder and hit 58-year-old Shirley Pitts. The Florida Highway Patrol investigated.
The truck then ran into the westbound lanes and crossed over the grassy median. It crashed into a boat on a trailer that was being pulled by a GMC driven by 30-year-old Caleb Howton.
The Dodge truck never stopped at the scene of the accident. Afterward, Pitts was taken to the Sacred Heart of Pensacola for serious injuries. Nobody else was injured in the accident.
On Thursday night, the truck was found and the investigation continues.
