Palm Beach County, FL (May 24, 2019) - A 30-year-old driver is dead following a crash on Haverhill Road this morning. The accident happened around 12:30 a.m., near the intersection with Belvedere Road.
According to reports, Eric Dryer was driving a 2017 Jeep Wrangler northbound on Haverhill when he approached the intersection with Belvedere. As he neared the intersection, a Chevy Venture, driven by 21-year-old Jon French Jr., turned directly into the path of Dryer's vehicle. Dryer's car rolled over after impact and he was ejected from the vehicle. An ambulance transported Dryer to St. Mary's Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Subsequent testing and reports from the Florida Highway Patrol indicate that French had drugs or alcohol in his system when the crash took place. Charges are pending at this time.
We offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim and those injured by this terrible crash in North Port. Driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol is a very irresponsible action and can certainly have very tragic and extreme consequences. Those who choose to drive while impaired place both themselves and all others on the roadway at risk of serious accidents.
