Palm Beach, FL (July 3, 2019) - A 32-year-old man is dead after the vehicle in which he was riding crashed due to a tire malfunction. The crash happened on I-95 on Tuesday, July 2nd.
The Florida Highway Patrol says that 32-year-old Miguel Martinez was riding in a car that was traveling southbound on I-95 in Palm Beach and driven by 21-year-old Yordin Diaz, of Delray Beach. Suddenly, the car experienced a tire blow out, causing Diaz to lose control. The car flipped several times, killing Martinez. Diaz sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. No one else was hurt and no other vehicles were involved.
Troopers are still looking into the crash and it is not clear if any charges will be filed at this time.
Our condolences go out to the family of Miguel Martinez. Malfunctioning vehicle equipment can cause a deadly crash in an instant. Many people drive cars with unsafe equipment, including tire defects. In some cases, the vehicle owner is negligent by failing to maintain their tires in proper condition. Other times, the tire may have a defect from the manufacturer making it unsafe for its intended use. These cases can be complicated and require the help of a skilled Florida personal injury attorney to determine the cause of the crash.
