Panacea, FL (July 7, 2018) – The Florida Highway Patrol is still searching for a driver that struck a child in a child bicycle accident in Wakulla County. The accident took place on Thursday on Otter Lake Road.
The eight-year-old boy was hit while he was riding his bike. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries including those to his chest, abdomen, and left arm. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the boy is now doing fine. The driver was in a white vehicle and they are asking for help as they work on identifying the driver responsible for the hit-and-run.
The speed limit sign on Otter Lake Road is posted at 25 miles per hour, but neighbors in the area say that nobody follows that law. They said that mostly everybody who utilizes the road has four wheel drive trucks and they fly over the speed bumps that have been put down in the area.
FHP states that the vehicle was a white passenger vehicle.
