Panama City, FL (June 27, 2018) – A man died in an accident that took place by the Panama City Marina. The man was riding his boat at the time of the accident.
The accident took place on Sunday when 59-year-old Brad Martin Bramblett was suddenly ejected from his 17-foot Aquasport boat. He was struck several times in the water when the boat began circling around him. The unmanned craft kept circling around and around, striking him each time it went through.
Another vessel pulled up and saw the scene. They immediately worked to rescue Bramblett. He was taken to the hospital with severe and life-threatening injuries. Within a few hours, he was pronounced dead.
The boat circled in the water for almost an hour after the rescue. The U.S. Coast Guard was able to stop it, however, when they threw ropes in the water. They were tangled inside the propeller and it shut the boat down.
Florida led all states in boating fatalities last year, ahead of California and Texas. Many people in these accidents drowned as they succumbed to their injuries.
