Florida experienced approximately 10,000 pedestrian injuries last year. Unfortunately, pedestrian accidents are a somewhat common occurrence across our state.
When a pedestrian crash occurs, police will undertake a full investigation in an effort to determine who is responsible for the crash. They will consider factors such as whether the pedestrian was in a crosswalk or other marked area, the time of day that the crash occurred, impairment, distraction and whether the crash could have been avoided. Ultimately, if it turns out the driver was negligent in causing a crash the injured pedestrian has the right to bring a personal injury claim. In Florida, an injured pedestrian may recover for pain and suffering, medical bills and lost wages stemming from an accident.
