Impaired driving continues to play a major role in serious and fatal Florida car accidents. In 2018, there 3,133 fatalities reported on Florida's roadways. From the number, 814 of the deaths occurred in impaired driving crashes. In 2017, the numbers were similar with 841 of 3,116 deaths attributed to impaired driving. Sadly, the victims of these crashes are most often innocent bystanders who are in the wrong place at the wrong time and are killed due to the reckless actions of another person.
