A Punta Gorda motorcyclist died after an accident that happened on US 41. The accident caused the rider very serious injuries but they passed after being taken to the hospital due to the severity of the injuries. The name of the rider has not yet been released, as notification of next of kin is still taking place.
The accident happened on a bridge around 1:00 p.m. today and found the rider lying alongside the motorcycle. Southbound lanes of the bridge were closed for hours while police investigated.
