Our condolences go out to the family of Paul Shamblin who was tragically killed in this Putnam County bicycle crash. On average, Florida sees just over 100 deaths annually as a result of bicycle crashes across our state. Many bicyclists are involved in crashes with vehicles at night and in poorly lit areas. Drivers may also be impaired or distracted and may fail to see a bicyclist in the roadway, thus leading to a serious crash. Due to the nature of these accidents, bicyclists frequently sustain serious injuries, and fatalities are common.
