Riverview, FL (March 24, 2021) - Two people suffered serious injuries following a car accident in Riverview on Tuesday night. The crash took place around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 301 and Lake Saint Charles Boulevard.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 61-year-old man from Riverview was driving northbound on U.S. 301 with a 31-year-old woman as his passenger. At the same time, an 18-year-old man from Riverview was traveling in the opposite direction on U.S. 301. The 61-year-old man made a left turn against a flashing yellow light. At the same time, the 18-year-old driver entered the intersection under a green light. The two cars collided in the intersection. Both the 31-year-old passenger and 18-year-old driver suffered serious injuries in the crash. There is no word on whether the 61-year-old driver was hurt.
Following an investigation, the 61-year-old was charged with making an improper turn.

A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a pickup truck in Palmetto on Thursday, December 6th. According to police, 31-year-old Bradley John Yost has been identified as the victim of the incident. Yost was traveling eastbound on Bayshore Road around 9:29 pm. At the time, Yost was directly in front of a truck being operated by 46-year-old John Thomas Cray. For unknown reasons, Yost stopped his vehicle and got out. As he began walking in the roadway, he was struck by Cray's truck. Cray then drove away from the scene with Yost still lodged underneath.
