48-year-old Samuel Slabaugh was seriously injured in an accident when he was driving his Nissan pickup on Pine Ridge Road on Monday night. At the same time, 64-year-old Henry Walters was in the outside turn lane facing west at the same intersection as Slabaugh.
Slabaugh attempted to turn left onto Collier Boulevard and then began to steer toward the east. He struck the semitrailer cab Walters was driving.
Slabaugh was taken to a Physicians Regional Hospital before he was flown to another hospital. He remains in critical condition at this time. Slaubaugh’s passenger, 49-year-old Peggy Sue Henke, received minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
