One man was killed in an accident that took place in Gilchrist County yesterday. 94-year-old Samuel Wilson Cobean was driving his 2017 Volkswagen at the time while 15-year-old Yaseen Rashid was in a Mercedes.
The Volkswagen was stopped in front of the Mercedes so that it could make a left turn into a business’ parking lot. However, Rashid failed to reduce his speed, causing the front of the Mercedes to hit the rear of the Volkswagen.
Both vehicles were sent onto the eastern shoulder, where they came to a rest. Cobean was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.
