Florida has the highest number of registered watercraft in the nation. There are more than 900,000 recreational vessels in our state. Unfortunately, Florida also accounts for about 11% of the total nationwide boating accident fatalities. Florida boat crashes can and often do result in serious injuries or death. Some common causes of boating accidents in our state include impairment, inattention, and inexperienced boaters.
Our thoughts and condolences are with the family of Reid McMenamy following this boat crash in Sanford.
