Santa Rosa County, FL (September 18, 2018) - A rear-end collision took place on Tuesday, September 18th in on I-10 in Santa Rosa County.
Authorities report that Victoria Emory Browning, 22, was traveling on I-10 around 9:00 am when her car ran out of gas. Browning attempted to pull over onto the shoulder, but while she was in the outside lane her vehicle was struck from behind. The other driver, 39-year-old John Claude, suffered no injuries in the crash. Browning was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Failing to slow down can have devastating consequences. Many drivers involved in rear-end collisions are distracted at the time the crash occurs. They fail to observe the conditions in front of them and collide with other vehicles at nearly full speed.
In this accident, John Claude may face liability in the form of a civil suit. Failing to slow down to avoid a collision can be considered negligent driving behavior which can, in turn, be a form of negligence that leads to liability.
