Shiyanne Kroll and Sandra Clarkson Injured After DUI Accident

On Thursday afternoon, a 44-year-old named Angenette Marie Welk was driving into an intersection when suddenly, her 2011 Avalanche slammed into the back of an Elantra. The Elantra was driven by 18-year-old Shiyanne Kroll, who had a passenger, 60-year-old Sandra Clarkson, with her.

The impact of the crash was enough to send Kroll’s vehicle into a horse trailer being pulled by 65-year-old Kevin McMinn. Troopers arrived at the scene and found Welk, who originally told police that she was driving home from a friend’s house. She told the troopers she dropped her phone and looked up right when the collision occurred.

The trooper, however, noticed signs of impairment. She failed a few field sobriety tests and was taken in for a DUI.

Clarkson was critically injured in the crash, while Kroll received minor injuries. The others involved were not injured.
