Southwest Miami-Dade, FL (May 24, 2019) - A crash involving a dump truck and a motorcycle left the motorcyclist dead. The crash occurred on Friday, May 24th, around 1:00 p.m.
The Florida Highway Patrol, along with the Miami-Dade Police Department, responded to Florida's Turnpike near Quail Roost Road upon receiving a report of the crash. When crews arrived, they began investigating. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene but their identity has not been released at this time. There is no word on how the crash occurred or whether the driver of the dump truck suffered any injuries.
Police are investigating and no further details have been released at this time.
Motorcycle deaths account for about 14% of all traffic-related fatalities in Florida. This is a shocking number, considering that only about 3% of all registered motor vehicles are motorcycles. The risk of being involved in a serious or fatal motorcycle crash is unfortunately quite high. We wish to extend our deepest condolences to the family of David Grandison following this tragic Tamarac motorcycle crash.
