St. Augustine, FL – Construction Accident Leads to Critical Injuries

St. Augustine, FL (July 11, 2018) – On Tuesday morning, a man was critically injured in a serious construction accident that took place in St. Johns County. The Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene to investigate.

Deputies first received reports after a man was cutting a post around 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday in a construction work zone. This happened at the Villages of Seloy, a new subdivision near St. Augustine off of State Road 16.

The man slipped and fell, which caused him to cut his upper body. They believe that he was cut in the neck area. A medical helicopter was called to the scene to airlift the man to the Orange Park Medical Center.

Because it was an industrial accident that happened in a work zone, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration was called to investigate.

In 2016, upwards of 5,190 workers lost their lives in horrific construction accidents that could have been prevented. Many more will become injured in these serious accidents every year across every state.
