St. Petersburg, FL (January 21, 2019) - A toll worker on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge was hospitalized after being struck by a driver with a suspended license. The incident took place on Sunday, January 20th around 1:05 pm.
26-year-old Brittnie Ann Kenyon was driving a 2013 Ford F-150 southbound on I-275 as she approached the toll booth on the bridge. As she got to the booth, a worker asked her to stop her vehicle. Although she stopped momentarily, she eventually failed to remain stopped and drove forward, running over 80-year-old Elaine Wyman. Wyman was working at the toll booth at the time she was hit. Kenyon stopped momentarily after striking Wyman but then left the scene.
She was apprehended on Monday and charged with driving with a suspended license and failing to provide information at a crash scene. Wyman was taken to St. Anthony's Hospital where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
We wish to extend our thoughts to Elaine Wyman and we hope for a speedy recovery from her injuries.
