State Road 44, FL (July 26, 2018) – Two drivers were taken to the hospital with injuries following a serious incident that took place yesterday. It happened at Morse Boulevard and State Road 44.
43-year-old Reinaldo Soto of Bushnell was at the wheel of his 2007 Honda Accord around 4:30 p.m. when the left turn light was flashing ‘caution.’ The Florida Highway Patrol said that he then pulled into the path of a white 2008 Nissan driven by 29-year-old Franklin Norman. He was on eastbound State Road 44 at the time and had a green light to go.
Normal was quickly taken to the Leesburg Regional Medical Center. Soto was transported to the Ocala Regional Medical Center, according to authorities.
Soto was ticketed for failure to yield to oncoming traffic.
In Florida, there is a reportable auto accident every 92 seconds. 250,000 people were injured on Florida roadways in 2017 alone. If you are one of them, we offer our sincerest condolences to you.
