Yesterday afternoon, a 37-year-old man named Stephen Harrington was driving carelessly when he became involved in an accident. According to a press release, he was driving his Ford F-150 westbound near Rainbow Drive when he collided with a GMC Sierra headed eastbound. The vehicle was being driven by 51-year-old Jeffrey Polk.
Witnesses, as well as physical evidence, showed that Harrington crossed the center lane, causing the vehicles to collide. After the accident, the Ford continued through the eastbound lane, where it left the roadway and ended up on CSX train tracks. The GMC overturned due to the accident.
As soon as the Ford ended up on the tracks, CSX was notified and stopped train traffic in the area until it was removed from the tracks. Polk only sustained minor injuries and was taken to a medical center, but Harrington did not receive any injuries.
Harrington is now charged with careless driving and driving without insurance.
