Sumter County, FL (October 27, 2018) - A serious crash claimed the lives of two teenagers in Sumter County on Friday, October 26th.
Jared Cleve Corbin, Jr. 18, was driving a 2009 Ford in the eastbound lanes of State Road 44 around 12:20 pm. Authorities say that Corbin lost control of his vehicle, struck a culvert and went airbrorne. The vehicle eventually collided with a power line and two trees before coming to rest. Both Corbin and his passenger, 15 year old Julian Tyrel Patterson died from injuries sustained in the accident.
Authorities believe that wet roadway conditions contributed to the crash and that alcohol was not a factor. It remains unknown whether the two teenagers were wearing seatbelts when the crash occurred.
