Tampa, FL (November 18, 2019) - Four students suffered injuries in a crash that took place in Tampa on Monday, November 18th. According to the Tampa Police Department, the crash occurred around 12:05 pm on Florida Avenue.
Police report that a 1999 Acura carrying the students attempted to make a left turn onto N Florida Avenue from West Ida Street. The Acura driver failed to see a 2007 Chevy pickup traveling northbound on Florida. The Chevrolet swerved to avoid a crash but struck a 2008 Nissan van that was also traveling northbound. The Nissan then swerved onto the sidewalk where it struck four students who were waiting for a public transit bus. The students, ages 18 to 19, all suffered non-life-threatening injuries including lacerations and road rash.
The Acura driver was cited for careless driving. No further details have been released at this time.

A 53-year-old woman from Wesley Chapel was killed in a car accident that took place on Monday in Hernando County. the accident happened around 9:15 p.m. on Powell Road near Birt Street. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 33-year-old woman was operating a car eastbound on Powell when she tried to make a U-turn at Birt. As she made her turn, she traveled too wide and collided with an SUV. Neither the driver nor passenger of the SUV were injured in the accident. However, the 53-year-old woman was a passenger in the first vehicle. She was killed as a result of the crash. A 15-year-old girl who was also in the first car sustained serious injuries.
