Tampa, FL – 9-Year-Old Left in Critical Condition Following Accident

Tampa, FL (August 17, 2018) – The Florida Highway Patrol were called to the scene of an accident in Tampa that left various parties injured, including a 9-year-old boy. The 9-year-old sustained critical injuries in the accident that happened on Highway 275.

FHP said the accident happened when a Hyundai was entering the westbound lanes of the highway from an empty ramp on North Lois Avenue. A Dodge Ram was traveling westbound on the inside lane when the Hyundai entered the lane ahead of it. This caused the Dodge to strike the Hyundai from behind.

The Hyundai flew off of the highway. A 9-year-old was in the back of the vehicle when it happened and he suffered severe injuries. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. The driver of the vehicle was identified as a 45-year-old man who suffered minor injuries and was treated by paramedics at the scene. The passenger in the front also had serious injuries.

The driver of the Dodge only suffered minor injuries. At this time, police continue to investigate the incident.
