Tampa, FL (January 28, 2019) - Former Tampa Bay Lightning star Vincent Lecavalier was among those hurt in a bus crash in Tampa on Saturday, January 26th. At the time of the crash, Lecavalier was among others on a charter bus heading to Tampa's Gasparilla parade. The crash happened around 1:40 pm on the Selmon Expressway.
Police say that one bus entered the exit and ramp and slowed down for traffic. The bus behind it, however, failed to stop and rear-ended the first bus. A third bus then collided with the second bus in a chain reaction-style collision. There were at least 50 passengers on board the buses when the crash occurred. Lecavalier and two other people sustained injuries and were taken to St. Joseph's Hospital. The injuries were described as "non-incapacitating."
Two of the three bus drivers were charged with careless or negligent driving by the Florida Highway Patrol.
