Tarpon Springs, FL (November 13, 2018) - A crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle left one person dead on Monday, November 12th.
66 year old Sam Bellotte was riding his motorcycle on US 19 near the intersection with Martin Luther King Boulevad around 10:00 a.m. As he approached the intersection, a 2016 Toyota Corolla ran a red light and crashed into Bellotte's motorcycle. The driver of the Corolla is identified as 57 year old Carolyn Stefanski. Bellotte was rushed to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where he died from his injuries.
Stefanski was cited for running a red light according to police. No further details are available at this time.
Approximately 14% of all traffic-related fatalities this year will involve motorcycles. It goes without saying that riding a motorcycle can be a very dangerous mode of transportation. Even when the motorcyclist is not at fault, a crash can be severe and deadly at any time. In this case, Sam Bellotte appears to be an innocent victim of another driver's negligence.
