Palm River, FL - Motorist Dead After Helicopter Crashes Onto Roadway
One person died in Palm River after a helicopter made a crash landing on a roadway on Thursday, April 5th. The incident took place on 50th Street, near Palm River Road, around 2:20 p.m. Police say that the series of events began when a helicopter suffered engine failure, causing it to crash onto the road below. When the helicopter crashed, it landed on top of a pickup that was traveling northbound on 50th Street. The helicopter's rotor blades were spinning at the time it made the crash landing. The blade struck and killed a passenger inside the truck. The deceased passenger was not immediately identified. The operator of the helicopter, which was privately-owned, has also not been identified. There is no word on whether any additional injuries were sustained. Read more
