Sometimes, traffic stops don’t always go how police want them to. When somebody is on the run, possibly for another crime or because there is something to hide, everything is thrown into the air. Many people’s lives are at risk during high-speed chases, which can so easily end in an accident. This was the case for police who chased one man on Daytona Beach.
A traffic stop turned into a high-speed chase featuring back-to-back crashes before an arrest was made. 24-year-old Tobias Smith was charged with a variety of different aspects that stemmed from the chaotic chase. It all started when Smith tried to cut through a parking lot to avoid a light and police tried to pull him over.
Smith proceeded to run a red light and strike a vehicle, a light pole, and a barbershop with customers in it at the time. When the crashes occurred, Smith then got out of his vehicle and started to run from the scene. Two officers were able to catch him, however, when his pants fell down to his ankles.
The driver in the vehicle that was struck at the red light sustained chest pains and had to be taken to the hospital. The barbershop sustained many damages, though nobody was hurt. Police found that Smith had been driving on a suspended license.
