Weirsdale, FL (August 15, 2018) – On Monday, a deadly ejection accident occurred when a man struck multiple objects alongside the vehicle before being thrown from his vehicle. The accident happened close to Southeast 122nd Terrace.
The Ocala man lost his life on County Road 42. The man was identified by the Florida Highway Patrol by 39-year-old John Saltis III. He veered across the roadway in his vehicle and went off the pavement, then striking a fence, a gate, and another fence while his vehicle was overturning.
The roof of the vehicle was torn over when it started rolling and Saltis was thrown to the ground. He was speeding in a 55 mph zone at the time of the incident and police said it might have been possible that he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.
A nearby resident commented that he thought he heard a crash around 2:30 a.m. but he went back to bed, thinking nothing of it. Residents went outside around 7 a.m., which is when they saw the wreck.
