Wildwood, FL (July 8, 2018) – A 16-year-old lost her life in a deadly tractor-trailer crash that happened in Wildwood, Florida. The accident took place on Friday and a girl from Roberta died in the accident.
At the time of the incident, a Honda Accord and a tractor-trailer were both traveling southbound in Wildwood when the Honda veered off of the interstate, according to police with the Florida Highway Patrol. The driver of the Honda was identified as 18-year-old Shanaya Prater, who overcorrected and entered the path of the tractor-trailer. This caused the two to collide with one another.
16-year-old passenger Makhaya White was ejected from the Honda when it ran into a guardrail. She died at the scene of the accident and it was determined that she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time.
Prater, a 16-year-old named Dymond Moore, and 11-year-old Nyheshia Anderson, were all taken to the hospital with serious injuries. It has been determined that alcohol did not play a role in the accident.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured in the accident, either. He was identified as 27-year-old Kamari Kirgger. The crash closed lanes of the interstate for multiple hours. Charges are pending in the accident.
