Winter Haven, Florida (October 25, 2018) - A driver crashed into another car at a toll booth on Wednesday, October 24th in Winter Haven.
The crash occurred around 530 pm on the Polk Parkway. A video from the scene captured a GMC Envoy crashing into a Chevy Silverado. The Silverado was pushed forward and into a camera, a light display and two control panels at the toll booth site. The Envoy ended up pinned underneath the truck. The Silverado driver, identified as 32-year-old TJ Lawson, was transported to Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
Lawson sustained serious injuries including a broken leg and also suffered a seizure. He was initially in ICU but later moved from there. He is expected to remain hospitalized indefinitely.
Police say that drowsy driving caused the Envoy to collide with Lawson's Silverado.

Unfortunately, drowsy driving plays a role in many of these accidents. A fatigued driver is as dangerous as an impaired driver and drowsy drivers account for numerous fatalities each year.
