17-year-old Angel Lopez lost his life while riding his bicycle on Friday night when he was hit by a trooper in a Florida Highway Patrol cruiser. The accident happened on Killian Parkway.
According to FHP, Aliek Sierra was on patrol at the time and traveling west when the teen attempted to cross the road on his Huffy bicycle. He traveled directly into the trooper’s path.
Angel Lopez was struck and died on the street due to his injuries. The roads were shut down for four hours while the accident was investigated. The officer was not injured.
