Six high school students received minor injuries in an accident that happened when a school bus was hit by a tractor-trailer, causing it to overturn. Alexander Segovia was cited for violations of a traffic signal for causing the accident.
The accident happened at the intersection of State Road 50 and exit ramp I-75 in Hernando County. At the time, Segovia was driving a tractor-trailer and failed to fully stop for a red light when he got to the end of the exit. He partially entered the intersection. The tractor-trailer then collided with a 2009 school bus that was driven by 62-year-old Carmen Frongillo. There were 18 students on the bus at the time.
No students had to be taken to the hospital for their injuries.
