Three people were rescued in an incident when they were left stranded at Government Cut, right around the area where the Miami Marlins pitcher, Jose Fernandez, died in a boating crash in 2016. The boat crashed into the jetty in this recent event. Rescuers had to work to get three off of the damaged boat. The vessel nearly overturned from the force alone.
Three boaters were assessed by the Coast Guard and one was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Miami officials are still investigating the accident and have warned everyone that boating at night should only be done by experts.
