Boynton Beach, FL (September 19, 2021) - Two people were killed in a car accident that took place on Sunday in Boynton Beach. The accident occurred on Boynton Beach Boulevard near Winchester Park Boulevard.
According to police, a Volkswagen Jetta was traveling eastbound on Boynton Beach at a high rate of speed when it collided with the back of a Hyundai Elantra that was stopped for a red light. The Hyundai struck a sidewalk and a utility pole before bursting into flames. The driver and passenger of the Hyundai died at the accident scene. The Jetta driver was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. No one involved has been identified.
Officials are still investigating the collision. No further details are available.
Fatal car accidents in Boynton Beach are a very devastating event for the surviving family members. In 2019, more than 3,000 people were killed in car accidents that took place in Florida.
