Brevard County, FL (November 28, 2019) - The Florida Highway Patrol has identified the victims in a deadly two-vehicle crash that occurred this week on I-95. The crash happened on Tuesday, November 26th around 6:00 p.m.
Police say that a pickup truck was hauling a trailer in the southbound lanes of I-95 near Titusville. Suddenly, the left rear axle of the truck broke off and separated from the trailer, causing the truck to lose control and veer into the path of another vehicle. Four people in the pickup truck were killed as a result of the crash. They have been identified as Juan Magana, 30, Jose Magana, 38, Jose Magana, 58, and Jaime Magana, 50. The four men were leaving a job site and were on their way home to Fort Pierce when the crash occurred.
The crash caused I-95 to shut down for several hours while troopers remained at the scene. An investigation is still active at this time.
We are extremely saddened to hear of this tragic fatal crash along I-95 in Brevard County.
While many Florida car accidents result from driver negligence, there are also a number of crashes that take place due to some type of vehicle or equipment malfunction. In this accident, it appears as though an equipment issue caused the deadly crash to occur. Whenever a vehicle defect causes a crash, a thorough investigation must be undertaken in order to determine the responsible party. These types of crashes can become very complicated in the process of deciding who should be held responsible.
Our thoughts and sympathies are with the families of the four men who lost their lives in this crash.
