Cape Coral, FL (July 27, 2019) - A total of five vehicles, including a police vehicle, were involved in a crash that took place in Cape Coral on Friday, July 26th. The accident happened on Veterans Memorial Parkway, near Country Club and Santa Barbara Boulevards.
Reports indicate that the police vehicle was traveling in the center lane of Veterans, moving westbound towards Santa Barbara. The officer was responding to an emergency call at the time. Several cars in front of the officer's vehicle were at a stop or reduced speed when the patrol car struck one of the vehicles in front of it, causing a chain-reaction crash involving three other cars. The officer and another person in one of the other vehicles were taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The officer was determined to be at fault for the crash. No further details have been released.

Florida Highway Patrol officials responded to the accident and said that four people had to be transported to local hospitals following the serious accident, most of which had critical injuries. Police responded to the scene of a crash in Key Biscayne on Saturday, November 2nd. The crash reportedly took place on the Rickenbacker Causeway. According to authorities, two cars were involved in the crash. A woman in one of the two vehicles was seriously hurt and was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital where she was listed in critical condition. There is no word on the events and circumstances which led up to the crash and police have not said whether anyone else sustained injuries in the accident.
